Charles Montagu (of Boughton)

Sir Charles Montagu (c 1564 – 11 September 1625) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1614 to 1625.
Montagu was the son of Sir Edward Montagu and his wife Elizabeth Harrington, daughter of James Harington of Exton, Rutland.〔(Tobias George Smollett ''The British magazine, or, Monthly repository for gentlemen & ladies'' )〕 He was knighted at York on 18 April 1603.〔(Knights of England )〕

Montagu died at the age of 61 and was buried at St Margaret's Church, Barking where there is a monument in relief depicting Montagu sitting in a tent.〔(Thomas Cromwell Excursions in the county of Essex: comprising a brief historical ..., Volume 1 )〕
Montagu married Mary Whitmore, daughter of Sir William Whitmore and had three daughters. One daughter, Anne Montagu married Baron Dudley North IV.〔
